Gas generator sets and their requirements for gas

Natural gas power generation units are a new type of environmentally friendly gas power generation unit developed to meet global environmental requirements and the new market environment. Natural gas generator sets are mainly divided into two types: gas turbines and gas internal combustion engines. The power of gas turbines is relatively large, mainly used in large and medium-sized power plants, while the power of gas internal combustion engines is relatively small, mainly used in small distributed power plants, with a single machine power of 10KW-1000KW.
 
Natural gas internal combustion power generation units are a new type of green and environmentally friendly power that replaces fuel and coal-fired units. Fully utilizing various natural gas or harmful gases as fuel, turning waste into treasure, safe and convenient operation, high cost-effectiveness, low emission pollution, and suitable for heat and electricity cogeneration, the market prospects are very broad.
 
China has abundant natural gas resources. Compared to China's abundant natural gas reserves, the proportion of natural gas in China's primary energy consumption seems too small, and it has significant potential in the future. Natural gas generators are increasingly being used as essential backup power generation equipment in fields such as oil fields, gas fields, airports, hotels, hospitals, etc. They can provide reliable power supply during power outages. As long as natural gas is continuously supplied, the generator will continuously generate electricity. Within a few seconds of a power outage, as long as the device is started, there will be power supply, and turning off the switch will stop the power supply - no additional work by the user is required. The equipment is fully insulated and meets emission standards. It can be expected that with the increasing supply of natural gas and the continuous expansion of the supply range, natural gas power generation will achieve rapid development in recent years.
 
Gas generator set requirements for gas:
 
1. The requirements for natural gas in gas generator sets should be within 1 meter of the gas inlet pressure regulating valve of the unit. ① The natural gas pressure should be 100-300kPa (for turbocharged engines) or 50-300kPa (for non turbocharged engines); ② The volume content of methane in natural gas shall not be less than 70%; ③ H2S ≤ 20mg/Nm3; ④ Impurity particle size<5 μ m. Impurity content ≤ 30mg/Nm3;
 
If the sulfur and ammonia components in the combustible gas are high, not only will it seriously corrode the spark plug electrode, but it will also increase the acid value in the engine oil, corrode the internal parts of the unit, and easily generate sediment, increasing corrosion and wear on the engine.
 2. The requirements for biogas in gas generator sets should be within 1 meter before the gas inlet pressure regulating valve of the unit, with a biogas temperature of ≤ 40 ℃ The biogas pressure is 3-10kPa, and the pressure change rate is ≤ 1kPa/min; ③ The volume content of methane in biogas shall not be less than 40%, with a change rate of ≤ 2%/min; ④ H2S ≤ 200mg/Nm3; ⑤ NH3 ≤ 20mg/Nm3; ⑥ Impurity particle size ≤ 5 μ m. Impurity content ≤ 30mg/Nm3; ⑦ The moisture content in biogas is ≤ 40g/Nm3. For biogas with a methane volume content of 30-40%, a special configuration of the unit is required, and another model of product is selected.

3. The gas generator set's requirements for gas should be within 1 meter of the gas inlet pressure regulating valve of the unit, with a gas temperature of ≤ 40 ℃ Gas pressure 3-10kPa, pressure change rate ≤ 1kPa/min; ③ The volume content of methane in gas shall not be less than 9%, and the change rate shall be ≤ 2%/min; ④ For gas with a methane volume content less than 30%, the sum of methane and oxygen volume content shall not be less than 28%, and the oxygen volume content shall not be less than 16%; ⑤ Impurity particle size ≤ 5 μ m. Impurity content ≤ 30mg/Nm3. ⑥ The hydrogen sulfide content shall not exceed 200mg/m3. For gases that exceed the specified range, it is necessary to communicate with the manufacturer and verify whether it is feasible based on the gas composition.
 
4. The requirements for coke oven gas in gas generator units shall be within 1 meter before the gas inlet pressure regulating valve of the unit, with ① the temperature of coke oven gas ≤ 40 ℃; ② The pressure of coke oven gas is 3-10kPa, and the pressure change rate is ≤ 1kPa/min; ③ The volume content of hydrogen gas in coke oven gas is ≤ 60%; ④ H2S ≤ 200mg/Nm3; ⑤ NH3 ≤ 20mg/Nm3; ⑥ Tar content ≤ 50mg/Nm3; ⑦ Impurity particle size ≤ 5 μ m. Impurity content ≤ 30mg/Nm3; ⑧ The moisture content in coke oven gas is ≤ 40g/Nm3.
